OPTIMIST
SPORT AND TEACHING

It is the result of many years of experience in recreational shipbuilding, both in terms of the application of materials and in terms of methods, resulting in enormous benefits such as the final cost of the product, maintenance and increased service life, advantages which translate into added pleasure.

This vessel is a laminated fiberglass sailboat, about 2.30 meters long and 1.10 meters wide, ideal for learning how to sail, as it is very light and stable.

Indicated for children from 7 to 15 years old, with a maximum weight of 60 kg, who want to start sailing.

Passengers: 1

Cabin: 0

Size: 2.3 METERS

Cruise Speed: 1 to 10 knots

Maximum Speed: 1 to 10 knots

The problem of styrene emissions is a very topical issue for all composite material processors. Current European regulations force us to drastically reduce the levels of emissions into the environment, which forces us to look for the best solutions for the shipbuilding industry.

The hull of the OPTIMIST Esporte e Ensino is made of laminated GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and sandwich, carefully using the best materials.

The resin used is isophthalic polyester whose mechanical performance and elasticity are superior, compared to hulls built with orthophthalic resin, which is cheaper but has lower performance.

The quality of the glass fibers used in our hulls is of superior quality and internationally approved against osmosis in shipbuilding.

The bottom of this Optimist is built on a sandwich structure made using the vacuum infusion process, which basically consists of a production technique that uses a vacuum to impregnate the fibers of a laminate, overcoming with great advantages the handmade process (hand -lay-up) of manual impregnation of the fibers.

The advantage of this infusion process is that it adds numerous functional qualities to the set: mechanical and chemical resistance and reduced maintenance. Its use makes it possible to increase the useful life of the equipment (boat) thanks to its mechanical properties (rigidity, resistance to fatigue) and also thanks to its chemical properties (corrosion resistance). They also enhance safety thanks to greater resistance to impact and fire.

Legal Feasibility

For the execution of this project, not only the different types of technical, environmental and labor laws were taken into account, as well as all the specifications of the class construction rules issued by IODA.
